This week my daughter had Princess Ballerina Camp. For a whole week she got to dress up as a princess, learn a dance routine, and do arts and crafts at LA Performing Arts!
Today, the last day of camp, was the ball! I knew all week I was going to have to find time to make the dress for Friday. There was no way she was going to wear a China made dress.
We picked out the fabrics at Jo-Ann’s. I let her pick the color and she most definitely wanted purple!!! She isn’t into a particular princess so this was perfect!
I used Violette Field Threads Chloe Pattern to make this dress. I altered it just a little because I wanted the bodice to be slim fitting plus she is really tall for her age. I did 12-18 months size on the width and 4 years on the length. If you read the charts, it tells you which measurements fit which size. Her chest is 20″ and she is 39″ tall. It fits her perfectly!
The fabric I used for the bodice is a satin. The skirt has 4 layers. Outer layer is a sparkly organza (1 1/2 yards but cut twice to length), the two middle layers are tulle (7 yards cut twice to length), and the inner layer is lining(1 yard cut twice to length).
My grandmother recently gave me a big box of vintage buttons and I found these lovely gold buttons!
I absolutely LOVED watching her move in this dress. It was like a real ball gown!!!
This was her lovely teacher. She made this so fun for Brie and it makes me want to put her back into dance. I just wished we didn’t live so far away from the studio!
We loved the show and by a miracle my husband was able to make it to the show too.
For your enjoyment, here is a small clip of her dance routine.
I made her gloves too and if you love them, be sure to check back next week! I will be giving a free pattern and tutorial on how to make princess gloves!
